Rihanna is parting ways with Def Jam Recordings, and has signed a deal with Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation label. The news broke, after rumors of the label switch happened over the weekend. The new deal signing took place back in April of 2013. Rumors began circulating when Def Jam‘s website moved Rihanna to it’s “legacy” artist section of their site.
Rihanna joins the likes of J. Cole, Rita Ora, and Jay Electronica at Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation label, which recently partnered with Universal Music Group.
Rumors say while Rihanna is technically no longer a Def Jam Recordings artist, her music will still be marketed and promoted by Def Jam.
A new Rihanna album is expected this year.
