Talk about drawing up a list of the hottest actresses in Nollywood since its inception and Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde and Genevieve Nnaji would surely make the list. Aside being veterans who have won numerous awards, endorsements and had very successful careers, the rivalry between this pair has been the issue of fierce debates in bear parlours, campuses and where ever movie fans discuss Nollywood. In fact, there’s a rumoured rivalry between the pair with tales of the screen goddesses snubbing each other out rightly and even declaring a cold war on each other. Genevieve hit Nollywood when the third largest movie making tradition was still an infant. Today she has a treasure throve of awards and is one of the most sought after actresses as far as endorsements are concerned. Aside owning a fashion label, St Genevieve, she’s a one time official Face of Lux Beauty Soap for sub-Saharan Africa, official face of MUD, BMW and Range Rover among others. The star of Ripples was just 8 when she got her first break into the world of make belief. At 19, she debuted in Nollywood when she acted in Most Wanted and ever since, she’s never looked back.

Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde

Call her super mum and you wouldn’t be wrong. Despite having four kids, Omotola still has a drop dead figure making her one of Nollywood’s hottest actresses. Even her husband appreciated her figure when he fell for her hence he christened her Omosexy.

Omosexy hit the limelight in the 1990’s when she featured in the movie, Mortal Inheritance. Ever since, it’s been a rollercoaster to success. Today she’s won many awards and endorsements, evidence of her hard work and dedication. Only last year, she made Time 100, Time Magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential women, setting a record in the process.

Omotola is hotter but Genevieve is a better actress-Jeff Green, EngineerOmotola’s hotter, sexier and more beautiful. The climax was when she made the list of Time 100. But in terms of role interpretation, I give it to Genevieve. She is a more of a natural actress as far as role interpretation is concerned.

Genevieve is a great actress but I would give it to Omotola. She’s more media friendly while Genevieve is much more closeted. Yes she’s a great actress but Omotola’s Time 100 award has pushed her into a new level.

As far as Nollywood’s concerned, both are no longer hot! They are still stars and are still making money but as regards being hot in the market, their market value has dropped drastically! You’d notice that in the past two to three years, both actresses have not been featured in movies and that’s been attributed to their high price tag. Presently, Mercy Johnson gets even higher pay than Omotola and Genevieve. The implication is that we can afford them. However, the truth is that people prefer seeing new faces rather than having old faces being recycled! And that’s the reason we no longer feature them; we want to recoup our investments and make money.
